Easy Fall Pumpkins using Fabric, Scissors, and Hot Glue!

I grew up in California, and September in California, to me, is technically the beginning of "Fall". So despite that I live in the Desert now, and its currently 97 degrees out and at 80% humidity-Its Fall baby!

I recently learned how to make fabric Pom Pom flowers which can be found here: Little Miss Momma-blog

Fabric Pom Pom flowers can be used for a million different purposes-all wonderful!

I was drawn to them because they are cute, easy to make, and only involve scissors and a hot glue gun.

I'm sewing machine challenged.

Once I mastered the pom pom flowers-I decided it was time to make some pumpkins!

Above is the first pumpkin I made in the same technique of the pom pom flowers.

I cut a pumpkin shape out of poster board and began scrunching my orange fabric circles and hot glued them on till there was no room left to glue. The stem is some twine I cut into short pieces and glued to the back.

And there you have an adorable pumpkin!

Despite being flat, it became so sturdy once the fabric was attached that I curved it a bit with my hands the way you would curve the bill of a baseball hat. then I propped it up using a small candle holder. I'm sure you could hot glue some ribbon and hang it...but this worked for me!

Save your scraps!
Now for the short pumpkin (the one on the right):

As I went to clean up my table after making the first pumpkin, I looked at all the scraps from cutting out all the circles and thought "What a waste of fabric! I hate to throw it away!"

I didn't throw them away.

I cut a toilet paper roll in half and began gluing the scraps to the roll in the same fashion as the circles scrunching from what looked like the best "center" of each scrap piece.

I used the smaller scraps towards the top and bottom of the roll and longer/larger pieces in the middle to give it a pumpkin look. Once finished, I trimmed around the pumpkin so it looked more uniform.

Now I have two cute pumpkins for Fall!
