Special Agent OSO- Cupcakes

My 2 year old son is obsessed with airplanes and Disney's Special Agent OSO. When it came time to have his 2nd birthday we decided to do an airplane party but with Special Agent OSO cupcakes.

When I make cupcakes with a theme other than "frosting" I prefer to use as much pre-made items as possible. I would rather cut up candy and marshmallows than pipe tiny eyes, ears and noses etc.

This is how I made them:

BASE:
Yellow frosting-I made mango frosting and colored it with yellow gel food coloring

EARS:
*Yellow circle sour gummy candies- I found mine at the dollar store, they were multi-colored happy face sour candies.
*Green writing/decorating gel- On the Yellow circle candies, draw with the green gel along the edge to make a "C" shape to outline the ear.

NOSE/ MOUTH:
*Caramel candies with a "milk" center- I didn't have to do anything other than un-wrap it and stick it on the cupcake!
*Mini chocolate chip-for the nose

EYES
*Dots candy-I fished out all the green ones and sliced them in half and arranged them above the Nose/Mouth as the outline of the Eyes-FLAT SIDE UP.
*Mini Marshmallows cut into thirds width-wise, then used 2 pieces and placed on top of Dots candy.
*Mini chocolate chips-1 on each marshmallow to finish the eyes.

Alien Cupcakes

My son had a Buzz Lightyear/Toy Story themed birthday party. I decided that alien cupcakes would be the easiest, cutest and most easily identified.

Ingredients:
1 Cake mix of your choice baked as cupcakes according to package directions
1 Can of white frosting (or make your own white frosting)
Neon green GEL food coloring (found in the baking isle)
Mini Marshmallows cut into thirds width-wise
Black writing /decorating gel (found in the baking isle)
Cupcake liners of your choice-blue or silver would be good.
Green sour belt candy

Cupcake Assembly

Frost cupcakes with green frosting.

Eyes
Cut 1 mini marshmallow into 3 pieces width-wise for each cupcake
Place all 3 marshmallow pieces in a row on the cupcake
Use black writing gel to place a black dot in center of each marshmallow, then draw a black circle below the eyes for a mouth.

EARS
Cut some of the green sour belt candy into small triangles. Place one triangle, point side in, into each side of the cupcake

ANTENNA
Cut a small skinny strip of the candy belt and fold/pinch over one end to form the ball at the top for the antenna. Then lay it flat at the top/edge of the cupcake, pushing the bottom end under the frosting.

And now you have Alien Cupcakes! "The Claaaaaaaaaw"

Bears on the Beach Cupcakes

I needed cupcakes to go with a Luau theme. I found this idea online, its on many websites so I can't really say who came up with it, But I'm sharing my "EASY- I have two boys running around the house and I don't have a lot of time" version!

Ingredients:

Cupcakes and frosting- All that is up to you-it doesn't really matter what flavors, do what you like! I did a pineapple cake mix and replaced water with pineapple juice. The frosting was vanilla pudding mix, mixed with 1/2 of the milk according to the package directions, a handful of chopped up pineapple tidbits, and folded in cool whip until it was the consistency I wanted.

Graham Crackers
Fruit by the foot
Teddy Grahams
Mini Umbrellas (I got mine at the dollar store)

Make the cupcakes, Frost when cool.
SAND: Crush the graham Crackers and cover the frosting to look like a sandy beach
BEACH TOWEL: Cut fruit by the foot a half inch longer than the length of a teddy graham-place towel towards one side of the cupcake.
BEAR: Place the teddy Graham on top of the "beach towel"
Umbrella: Stick the umbrella into the cupcake at an angle, over the bear.

Now you have a Bear, laying out on the sand under an umbrella!

If  you wanted to take it up a notch, you can reserve some frosting, tint it blue and swipe it across a little less than half the cupcake and then top it with some rainbow or cookie goldfish to resemble the ocean!
